SUMMARY:The Philanderer
DESCRIPTION:George Bernard Shaw uses the concept of the New Woman with hilarious effect in The Philanderer\, a comic farce that redefines the male-female relationship. The Philanderer is high comedy about serious issues: the role of the Ibsen inspired New Woman versus the traditional middle class “Angel of the House”\; the serious\, yet comic\, consequences of medical quackery\; and the joys of dalliance versus committed relationships.
