SUMMARY:Reeling: Playland
DESCRIPTION:The Playland Café\, a legendary part of Bostonâ??s queer history\, is open one last time. This beautifully-shot\, dreamlike film follows the employees and patrons of Playland through a stylized imagining of the bar as the past is transported to the present. Artist-filmmaker Georden West collapses time and space to capture the barâ??s decades-long history in this stunning and haunting debut feature. Following multiple storylines throughout history and weaving in vintage archival footage\, West uses a multimedia approach to paint this vivid and fantastical queer establishment in all its glory and pain one last time. Featuring performances by Lady Bunny and Danielle Cooper (Pose).
