SUMMARY:In a Whisper
DESCRIPTION:Lilia’s unwavering love for her girlfriend Alice faces sudden challenges when she returns to Tunisia for her uncle’s funeral and reunites with her family that knows nothing about her life in Paris. After quickly suspecting that her uncle may have been gay\, Lilia sets out to unravel the mystery of his death. Along the way\, Lilia discovers buried secrets and unexpected allies within the family that she thought would reject her. Leyla Bouzid crafts an intergenerational tale of tenderness\, love\, and family dynamics in this touching drama that Slant describes as a “poignant portrait of the desire for queer kinship within one’s very bloodline.â€? The strong ensemble cast includes the great Hiam Abbass (HBO’s SUCCESSION) as Lilia’s mother.
