Independent Documentarian Cheryl Dunye: Screening, Talk and Reception
The Center for Gender Studies and The Film Studies Center present an evening with Cheryl Dunye, an award winning director, screenwriter and filmmaker. The event will include a screening of selections of Dunye's earlier works as well as a reception with the filmmaker. Villified by conservatives in Congress and labeled "the lesbian Spike Lee," Cheryl Dunye has created a provocative, humorous and insightful body of independent film. Tonight she will screen The Stranger Inside Residency Documentary (20 min) as well as screen and discuss selections from a newly released compilations, The Early Works of Cheryl Dunye (DVD, 2008). Reception to follow.
Located @ Film Studies Center, 5811 S. Ellis, Cobb Hall 307
